In my spare time this week I found another use for my ice cream scoop.

Theory

My theory is that you have more creative ideas in your brain that you don’t know what to do with, that if perhaps you were able to spill it all out, you would have bloodied fingers, malnourished, and having not slept for days, then you would die of exhaustion.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving, originally uploaded by robotperez.

I had a traditional Thanksgiving this year at my folks house. Nothing too big, nothing commercially inflated, or awkwardly cumbersome. It was a perfectly quaint and personal meal with those I love. That day I’d brought my camera to take photos, but in all the excitement and food I managed to leave it alone. I only grabbed it after everyone was gone (besides my parents) and the food had settled in my plump belly. I grabbed the camera for a special occasion, a unscripted father son bonding time. What son would pass up taking photos of their first hero, their dad?…Not me.
That night my dad, brought to life by mixing turkey and pumpkin pie; walked from the dinning room. As if he were a Thanksgiving vigilante, wearing a speckled blue mask. Now it was no ordinary mask that adorned his face with gleaming pride. It just so happened to be the mask of our late relative ‘The Blue Demon.’ My smile was ear to ear, as I saw him come round the corner. And for the record, I peered into his shadowed eyes and saw absolutely no doubt in his mind…he was invincible.

Thank you pops, it was the perfect Thanksgiving gift.

A video I didn’t make.

I wanted to show off a little of Johnny Driver’s creativity today instead of my own.

Click here to see what Johnny made.

Also I wanted to say thank you to Briony (who was the girl in the video) for helping out, you did great in the video and with the live monologue.

Silent Night

I went to bed early (Midnight) Tuesday and crashed right away.

Prior to bed, I had been watching Back to the Future II, eating a PBJ sandwich and having my first glass of eggnog this year.

All normal things for me on a Tuesday night, besides the eggnog.

At approximately 1:30 AM as I was teetering on the edge of the deep sleep, and I suddenly awoke.

Now I wake up to many things…

Cars speeding down my street, skateboarders commuting to the park, neglected dogs barking, my neighbor’s extremely loud Chevy pickups exhaust, or the next door truck driver starting up his big rig.

None of those things really effect me these days cause I have gotten pretty use to them, but what woke me up last night was something I had never heard before.

From nowhere came loud scratching, and climbing noises from my walls.

Being in the dead middle of the night, my eyes were shut still, but my ears were working full capacity.

At first I thought I had dreamed up the noise, but as I lay in bed the noise continued.

I tried to ignore it, but I had no success.

Scratch…scratch…

…tap…

…tap…clank……clankity clank.

Then scratch again.

Something was moving around a ton.

This event shot is made possible thanks to the sheer creativity of my dear friends on Halloween Night. The photo is tangible evidence that after death we will still hang out together.

Have you ever had the term HDR (High Dynamic Range) thrown up in the air, during a intense photography conversation, and not known what it was?

Well if you haven’t investigated it yet, I highly suggest you do, because it is something worth seeing.

And a few of my colleagues and I have birthed a flickr group dedicated to HDR.

Join us if you dare, on our saga to the ends of HDR, the road will be distant and callous; but the reward will outlast anything that we face.

Take a look for yourself, at the first of many…
