Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving, originally uploaded by robotperez.
I had a traditional Thanksgiving this year at my folks house. Nothing too big, nothing commercially inflated, or awkwardly cumbersome. It was a perfectly quaint and personal meal with those I love. That day I’d brought my camera to take photos, but in all the excitement and food I managed to leave it alone. I only grabbed it after everyone was gone (besides my parents) and the food had settled in my plump belly. I grabbed the camera for a special occasion, a unscripted father son bonding time. What son would pass up taking photos of their first hero, their dad?…Not me.
That night my dad, brought to life by mixing turkey and pumpkin pie; walked from the dinning room. As if he were a Thanksgiving vigilante, wearing a speckled blue mask. Now it was no ordinary mask that adorned his face with gleaming pride. It just so happened to be the mask of our late relative ‘The Blue Demon.’ My smile was ear to ear, as I saw him come round the corner. And for the record, I peered into his shadowed eyes and saw absolutely no doubt in his mind…he was invincible.
Thank you pops, it was the perfect Thanksgiving gift.

That is so sweet. I am so glad you had a great Thanksgiving. It so touches my heart to know that some fathers out there that still have relationships with their kids, especially their sons.
